With new leadership comes new challenges and often the opportunity for change. When Chris Bradley joined Fuel Card Services as the new Group Head of Sales, he was impressed with what was already a high performing team.

But where many would be happy with that they saw, Chris saw a chance to develop the team from something good, to something great. And that’s where the Incredible Thinkers came in.

As Chris describes “Fuel Card Services are a company that subscribes to the theory that a business is only as strong as its people. When I joined the business, I was immediately struck by the passion and energy at each of our six centres. This was fundamental to delivering year on year growth and success over many years.

After lots of meetings and conversations, I soon realised that our people had a genuine desire to keep developing and doing things better. We knew we had to keep evolving to stay on top, and that included acquiring new tools, skills and critically, our thinking. So, when I met with Incredible Thinkers, their approach resonated with me immediately.”

There are many elements to Incredible Thinking. Matt works with organisations to understand their organisational aims, team performance targets, and individuals’ objectives and personal goals.

At the core of Incredible Thinkers is philosophies, beliefs, tools and skills that not only support incredible thinking, but also how and where it is applied. This is the magic ingredient. Incredible Thinking is about creating a culture of innovation to challenge the norm, embrace change and grasp opportunities to learn something new.

Fuel Card Services objectives were focused on their customer service. They realised only the best team with the best skills can support delivery of the best service for their clients.

Understanding the tools at their disposal to increase effectiveness…

The business is spread out and so the leadership development was delivered at four locations across the country. The programme of incredible thinking leadership development involved around 40 managers and worked across:

  • Incredible Thinking
  • Personal Effectiveness
  • People Management
  • Coaching for Performance
  • Communication to Engage

Chris continues “This was not your typical training but really helped to challenge us – not only about the things we generally do (management practice and process) but also our whole way of approaching a challenge and the thinking behind it.

It has genuinely provided a new level of excitement and confidence in our leaders, and they feel they have a whole new set of tools and approach available to help them deliver not only commercial success but a sustainable change in culture that will ultimately benefit our people, the business and our customers”

Jess Daley, Marketing Team Leader, described her thoughts on the leadership training as “…really useful! It provided me with lots of ideas and new ways of looking at things that I can use day-to-day with my own team.”

Matt has enjoyed the engagement with the teams to date and is looking forward to seeing the company grow from strength the strength as the leadership course progresses.
